JAMAICAN INTERNATIONAL Khadija Shaw returned from a self-imposed break to score for Manchester City in their 3-1 defeat of Leicester in their Women’s FA Cup fifth-round tie on Sunday.
The 28-year-old forward, City’s all-time lead goalscorer, pulled out of Thursday’s League Cup semifinal win at Arsenal after being subjected to racist and misogynistic abuse during City’s 4-3 defeat by the Gunners in the Women’s Super League a week ago.
Shaw, who was introduced at half-time, scored her side’s third goal as she nodded home from close range.
Shaw took 15 minutes to get her name on the scoresheet, Aoba Fujino taking the ball to the byline before clipping a cross into the Jamaican, who rose highest to power a header into the net to extend City’s foothold on the match.
Before that Gareth Taylor’s side was already comfortable courtesy of Leila Ouahabi and Kerolin first-half goals.
The strike was Brazilian Kerolin’s first since she joined from North Carolina Courage in the January transfer window.
