The curtains came down on the four-day JAAA/Puma National Junior and Senior Athletics Championships with Bryan Levell of Uptimum Track Club winning the men’s 200-metres final at the National Stadium, on Sunday.

Levell won in a World Championships qualifying time of 20.10 seconds.

Second went to Titan’s Christopher Taylor 20.28 seconds with Adrian Kerr third 20.49 seconds.

Ashanti Moore of Sprintec won the women’s final in 22.66 seconds, Gabrielle Matthews from the University of Florida was second in 22.80 seconds and Roneisha McGregor of UWI, was third 22.86 seconds.

Rusheen McDonald winning the men’s 400-metres final could be considered one of the major upsets of the championships.

McDonald won in 44.89 seconds despite slowing down about five metres from the line.

Delano Kennedy of Uptimum was second in 44.91 seconds and Racers’ Jevaughn Powell third in 45.08 seconds.

2020 Olympic Games bronze medallist, Megan Tapper, won the women’s 100 metres hurdles in 12.34 seconds to set a new person best mark.

Ackera Nugent finished second in 12.41 seconds and Amoi Brown was third in 12.67 seconds.

Orlando Bennett won the 110-metres hurdles in 13.10 seconds, while Demario Prince was second in 13.12 seconds and Tyler Mason third 13.22 seconds.

Defending champion Rasheed Broadbell did not show for the final.  He suffered a cut after crashing into one of the hurdles during warm up for the final.

He subsequently applied for a medal exception and could still take his place on the team.

However, the bell of the ball was sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who posted 10.91 seconds in the women’s 100-metres final to finish third in her final race in Jamaica and book her space on the plane to Tokyo.

Tina Clayton won in 10.81 seconds with Shericka Jackson second in 10.88 seconds.

Fraser-Pryce made her 13th Jamaican team at age 38.
