Veteran Jamaican-American actress Sheryl Lee Ralph has earned her fourth consecutive Emmy Award nomination, once again being recognised for her role as Barbara Howard in the hit comedy Abbott Elementary, created by Quinta Brunson. Ralph was nominated in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, a category she won in 2022, the year of her first nomination.
Other nominees in the category include: Liza Colón-Zayas for The Bear, Hannah Einbinder, Hacks; Kathryn Hahn, The Studio; Janelle James, Abbott Elementary; Catherine O'Hara, The Studio; and Jessica Williams, Shrinking.
Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson also received two nominations: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Janine Teagues, and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
The show itself continues to rack up acclaim, with additional nominations for Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Janelle James, as Ava Coleman and Outstanding Comedy Series.
The mockumentary-style series has now garnered a total of 30 Emmy nominations over the years, with four wins to date, solidifying its status as a standout in the television landscape.
Ralph, who has also made her mark on Broadway and in film, was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in April of this year. The ceremony took place at 6623 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, where she was awarded the 2,808th star in the television category, recognising her significant contributions to the entertainment industry.
The Emmy Awards ceremony is set for September 14, when winners in various categories will be officially announced.
