Moses Shyne Barrow, Party Leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has issued a strong statement to party members and faithfuls, asserting that there has been no change in his leadership and refuting what he describes as “desperate measures to undermine” an upcoming National Party Council (NPC) meeting. In his statement, dated today, Barrow reaffirmed his mandate, stating he was “duly elected as Party Leader March 27, 2022 then reelected August 13, 2023 to serve until October 5, 2025.” He emphasized that the Party Leader can only be removed “by way of a recall,” countering any speculation about his current position. He expressed regret that some have resorted to desperate measures to undermine the scheduled meeting of the National Party Council set for June 14. Barrow has underscored the importance of Saturday’s meeting, defining it as a chance for members to offer their contributions on how the UDP could best reset, reunite and rebuild as it moves towards the October 5 National Convention. Love News understands that at Saturday’s meeting, the expelled members will be reinstated and there will be recommendations made for the UDP’s constitutional amendments. As we reported yesterday, UDP’s Hugo Patt is calling on UDPs to boycott Saturday’s meeting.
