With the leadership convention being planned for early October, UDP Leader Moses Shyne Barrow, says that he will not be a candidate, but he does not think that Tracy Panton should run for leader either.

Moses “Shyne” Barrow, UDP Leader: “I am not a candidate. I was already elected. So come October 5th, I cannot offer myself as a candidate for the office under the current constitution.”
Rene Villanueva, Host, The Morning Show: So you won’t be contesting the upcoming convention?
Moses “Shyne” Barrow, UDP Leader: “No, I will not.”
Troy Gabb, Host, The Morning Show: He wouldn’t qualify.
Moses “Shyne” Barrow, UDP Leader: “I’m not sure if even if I did qualify, if I would. I believe, in my humble opinion, the party needs someone other than the two feuding people to lead the party forward. I’ve heard names such as Hugo Patt. I’ve heard people clamor for Darrell Bradley. I believe the solution moving forward would be a mediated leader that does not come from either side to give the party a time of calm and stability. That is what I think. I would like to see the country have a strong opposition, alternative to the Briceño administration who many people are very disappointed in, very disillusioned with. But unfortunately, we have not been able to put forward a viable opposition due to the divisions and the fractions in the UDP.”
For now, the leadership convention for the UDP is set for October 5.
