Six National Champions Booked for Prefontaine Classic

Six newly minted national champions are scheduled to be in action at the 50th staging of the Prefontaine Classic, the ninth stop in the Wanda Diamond League series on Saturday at Hayward Stadium University of Oregon.

World leader Kishane Thompson leads the pack, he takes on countryman Ackeem Blake, Zharnel Hughes and Treyvon Bromell in a big men’s 100m clash.

His MVP teammate Tina Clayton, who ran a lifetime best in Kingston on Friday night, will face the full podium from last year’s Paris Olympic Games in Julien Alfred, Sha’carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson Woodhen in a stacked 100m.

Megan Tapper still on a high from Sunday night’s cracking victory will have a rematch with national record holder Ackera Nugent and reigning world champion Danielle Williams in the 100m hurdles.

Bryan Levell is also entered with fellow national champions Ralford Mullings and Ackelia Smith.

Women’s 400m runner at the nationals Dejanea Oakley will face her Georgia University team mate Alliah Baker in a repeat of the NCAA 400m final looking to avenge the defeat.
