Paying tribute to his grandfather and the global legacy he built, Skip Marley has released his own rendition of One Love, honouring the message of unity that defined Bob Marley’s career.

The release was accompanied by a video dropped on social media by Adidas, unveiling Jamaica’s new home-and-away kits, blending music, sport and culture in a single visual moment.

Produced by Salaam Remi, the track was released across all platforms via Tuff Gong International/Def Jam Recordings. The video was filmed at the Bob Marley Museum and Tuff Gong Studios. Recognised as a timeless anthem for peace and unity, One Love was named Song of the Millennium by the British Broadcasting Corporation in 1999.

The reimagined single arrives alongside the Adidas x Bob Marley Foundation capsule collection. Created in close collaboration with the Bob Marley Foundation, the eight-piece apparel range draws from archival photographs and historically significant garments worn by Bob Marley. Standout pieces include the lilac Firebird track pants he wore while touring Europe.

The son of Cedella Marley, Skip grew into his family’s musical lineage, teaching himself to play the piano, drums, guitar and bass. In 2015, he released the singles Cry to Me and Life under the Tuff Gong label, later touring with his uncles Damian Marley and Stephen Marley on their Catch a Fire tour.

For Skip, sport and music share the same unifying force.

“Football and music, both languages of unity, run deep in Jamaican culture. One Love has always belonged to the people. My grandfather’s music continues to uplift and inspire people to stand for something greater than themselves. That message still moves the world today. Reimagining the song for the Adidas x Bob Marley Collection is a full-circle moment for my family. It is honouring my grandfather’s legacy while connecting music, football, and culture in a way that feels true to who we are,” he said.

Marley’s new track builds on classic roots reggae themes of unity in the face of injustice and a devotion to truth. This 2026 version features Skip’s delivery with reverence to the powerful message the lyrics convey. The release also marks a full-circle moment of passing the timeless anthem from one generation to the next by placing it in the hands of a defining voice of 21st-century reggae.
