Smith takes eighth in long jump final

Jamaica's Ackelia Smith finished eighth in the final of the women's long jump at the ongoing Paris Olympics.

The 22-year-old Smith produced a championship best effort of 6.66 metres in the opening round of the competition.

The United States' Tara Davis-Woodhall took the gold with her mark of 7.10 metres, Germany's Malaika Mihambo won the silver in 6.98 metres, while the US Jasmine Moore rounded off the medal taking spots in a distance of 6.96 metres.
