SOE Operation Leads to Firearm and Ammunition Charge

Police say a weekend State of Emergency operation has led to the arrest and charging of one individual for kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license. The operation formed part of the Belize Police Department’s ongoing enforcement efforts targeting areas currently under the State of Emergency regulations.  According to authorities, officers conducted searches and patrols over the weekend in designated zones when the firearm and ammunition were allegedly discovered. Police have since detained and formally charged the suspect in connection with the seizure.  Today, Police Staff Officer, ASP Stacy Smith, provided additional details on the operation and the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

Police continue to maintain that the State of Emergency operations are aimed at disrupting gang-related activities, removing illegal firearms from the streets, and reducing violent crime in affected communities./
