SOS launches new office furniture line

Stationery and Office Supplies Limited, SOS, has expanded its office furniture offerings with a new line called Evolve, aimed at carving out a larger share of the local market.

The new line, under which SOS stocks free-standing desks, cupboards, chairs, and tables, was officially introduced last month after nearly a year working with a supplier based in China.

SOS’s core business is the sale of office supplies, stationery and furniture. In 2018, it diversified into book production, including student notebooks, choir books and writing pads, through the acquisition of Book Empire Limited, the maker of the SEEK brand.

The rollout of the new office furniture line comes after the company disclosed that it had struck a deal with Affordable Interior Systems, an American supplier of office furniture in a bid to win back business lost to the pandemic. The new arrangement was meant to alleviate the delays it had been experiencing with previous suppliers in the Far East since the pandemic.

Now, the company is back with a supplier from China, touting affordability as one of the major catches for customers with the new Evolve furniture line.

“We’re always looking for new opportunities to increase our line of products and offer customers the most modern and reliable furniture in the business. Our new Evolve line is one such venture. It provides our customers with a completely new look and feel for their offices at incredible prices,” SOS Deputy Managing Director and Director of Purchasing and Administration Kelli Muschett said in a release from the company.

SOS’s decision to bring to market a new office-furniture line comes amid record-breaking successes the company has been having over the six-month period up to June 30, 2022, when it made profit of $69 million, a $65-in million jump on its performance for the similar period of 2021 and its best performance in its 57-year history. Revenues near doubled to $420 million year on year.

Its performance was in part helped by the delivery and installation of a new 200-plus seat call centre. as well as other projects. SOS did not specify any market it’s targeting for the new office-furniture line, but over the past year or two, it has been working to boost business within the business process outsourcing sector.

SOS says it’s confident that, despite the pandemic’s impact on shipment and distribution worldwide, it will be able to keep up with the expected market demand for Evolve.

“Thanks to our ample storage facilities, new partnerships and strategic planning efforts, SOS has the capacity to supply the market demand for the Evolve line even as it grows. We plan to keep our inventory well stocked as we pay close attention to the fluctuations in shipping timelines.” Muschett said.

The company also intends to continue releasing new furniture lines.
