South Africa beat the West Indies by 50 runs at the three W’s Oval in Barbados on Friday to take a 1-nil lead in their three match Women’s T20 International Series.

Tazmin Britz slammed an unbeaten 98 to help steer the visitors to 183 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Britz belted 9 fours and 4 sixes off 63 deliveries as Jahzara Claxton claimed 3 for 39.

The West Indies in reply were restricted to 133 for 6 as only Jannilea Glasgow with an undefeated 58 and Chinelle Henry 26 made any useful contribution.

Game two is on Sunday at the same venue with the South Africans looking to take a winning 2-nil lead and the Windies trying to keep interest in the series alive.
