Former American sprinter, Wallace Spearmon, says the rivalry between Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake was just as fierce as it was between athletes from rival countries.

During his career Bolt won eight Olympic gold medals and 11 world championships gold medal, while Blake has two Olympic golds and two world championship golds.

Bolt is also the record holder for the 100 metres, 9.58 seconds, and the 200 metres, 19.19 seconds.

Speaking on the Ready Set Go podcast, Spearmon says the fight for hierarchy in Jamaican male sprinting reached its zenith at the London 2012 Olympics where Blake picked up silver behind Bolt in the 100 and 200 metres finals.

Spearmon says Bolt was furious when Blake predicted he would run sub-19 seconds to win the 200 metres final.

Bolt went on to win the sprint double in the British capital after suffering defeat to Blake in both events two months earlier at the Jamaica National Championships.
