Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Fayval Williams, makes a statement to the House of Representatives on Tuesday, April 1.
Finance Minister Fayval Williams says the government’s special arrears settlement programme has surpassed its target.
The programme allowed taxpayers with outstanding debt for selected tax types to pay the arrears without incurring penalties, interest or surcharges.
The tax types include education tax, corporate income tax, individual income tax, pay as you earn, PAYE, special consumption tax, general consumption tax, asset tax and the partnership income tax.
The programme started in January and was set to end on March 31.
However, the minister says in recognition of the initial success, the government has extended the programme by an additional two months.
