A special prize of over $200,000 in cash will go to the winner of the boys 4-by-400 metres relay at the 9th S.W. Issac Henry Track and Field Invitational, on Saturday February 15 at the National Stadium.
The race is expected to be one of the highlights of the meet now in it’s 11th year.
For the first time ever, the meet will have an international flavour, a team out of Canada has entered and will make up part of the over 18,000 athletes expected to participate.
The organisers have also included on the schedule for the first time the 2,000 metre steeplechase.
Chairman of the organising committee, Leroy Cooke told Nationwide Sports, there’re still a few areas to work on, but says they will be ready to go.
Cooke says obtaining sponsorship for local track and field meets is becoming increasingly difficult and will force them to rethink.
