Spirit Airlines to Launch Direct Flights to Belize

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) has announced the pending introduction of Spirit Airlines to the country.  Hailed as a boost to the country’s tourism sector is the addition of a new nonstop flight service from Spirit Airlines. Beginning November 21, the low-cost carrier will offer direct flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Belize’s Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport.  This new route marks Spirit’s official entry into the Belize market, providing travelers with an affordable and convenient option to explore the country’s diverse offerings. The airline will operate three weekly flights on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, utilizing its Airbus A320 aircraft.  According to Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism, this new connection is a major win for Belize. In celebration of the new route, Spirit Airlines is offering special introductory one-way fares starting at just eighty-five US dollars from Fort Lauderdale to Belize City. It is a promotional fare available for a limited time.  The addition of Spirit Airlines to Belize’s roster of international carriers is part of a broader trend of expanding air connectivity for the country. This follows a wave of new and enhanced services from other major carriers. In recent months, Belize has welcomed: United Airlines’ first-ever flights from San Francisco; Air Canada’s direct flights from Montreal; Delta Airlines doubling its holiday service from Atlanta; and JetBlue’s direct flight from New York (JFK) which launched in late 2024.  With this latest service, Fort Lauderdale becomes Belize’s 23rd nonstop international destination, further cementing the country’s position as a growing and accessible travel hub.
