President of the Jamaica Olympic Association, Christopher Samuda, has joined thousands in sending condolences to the family and friends of former World Boxing champion, Mike McCallum.
Reports are that McCallum was on his way to the gym on Saturday when he fell ill.
The former world champion pulled his car off the road where police reportedly found him unresponsive.
McCallum, who passed away at 68-years-old, was the 1978 Commonwealth Games and Central American and Caribbean Games gold medallist.
He was also the 1979 Pan American silver medallist.
McCallum, nicknamed ‘The Body Snatcher’, held world championships in three weight classes, including the World Boxing Association super welterweight title from 1984 to 1988, the WBA middleweight title from 1989 to 1991, and the World Boxing Council light heavyweight title from 1994 to 1995.
