The winning class three girls’ 4-by-100-metres relay team from the recent ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships were rewarded with $150,000 from local telecommunications company, Digicel.
The girls from Monk Street won in 45.74 seconds.
Digicel’s head of Communication and Corporate Affairs, Elon Parkinson, says the funds, which will go toward closing any existing tuition gaps, forms part of Digicel’s longstanding dedication to nurturing young talent in athletics, better known as its “Grassroots to Greatness” project.
