Stann Creek ITVET Reopens After Major $1.4 Million Renovation

The Stann Creek ITVET has received a much-needed facelift, nearly five years after plans were first put forward to repair the school and attract more students.  The one-point-four-million-dollar project included work on the classrooms, offices, computer lab, kitchen and restrooms. One of the school’s biggest problems, leaking roofs, was also fixed.  The project was carried out by the Social Investment Fund, with support from the Caribbean Development Bank. At yesterday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, Dangriga Area Representative Dr. Louis Zabaneh said the ITVET has already moved from fewer than fifty students to graduating more than two hundred in recent years. He believes the repairs will help the school build on that progress.

Stann Creek ITVET Manager Gwendolyn Martinez said the changes will allow the school to better serve trainees from across southern Belize.  She added that the campus is now fully operational.

The Stann Creek campus was opened in 2006.
