Summer Slam’ operation nets 21 suspects,

Twenty-one people were arrested and 65 fixed penalty notices issued during a ‘Summer Slam’ operation in the Southern Division on Tuesday.

The exercise, conducted between 4 am and 1 pm on August 12th, targeted firearm, robbery and narcotics-related offences.

Three La Romain men were arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition, with officers seizing one revolver and three rounds. Three other suspects were held for possession of cannabis, while the remaining 15 were arrested for offences including motor vehicle larceny, malicious wounding, attempted murder, sexual touching, and outstanding warrants.

In a separate Western Division operation in St James between 8 pm and 10 pm the same day, a 21-year-old man was arrested at the corner of Community Lane and Belle Vue Road. He was allegedly in possession of a pistol loaded with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition.

The Southern Division operation also included two roadblocks and searches of six houses. These efforts led to the issuing of 65 fixed penalty notices.
