‘Sunshine Days’ brightens Da’Ville’s return 13 years later

Following a more than a decade-long hiatus out of the spotlight, reggae artiste Da’Ville is back and ready to speak his truth. This Friday, Sunshine Days, his first official single and music video in 13 years, will be officially released. Distributed by AMP Music, the track marks a powerful return for the artiste who once topped global charts with hits like In Heaven, Can’t Get Over You, and Always on my Mind.

Da’Ville’s absence from the music scene, however, was not without cause.

Following his almost meteoric rise, Da’Ville found himself in a label deal that conflicted with his creative vision. Coupled with personal struggles and fractured business relationships, including with his former manager, the artiste made the difficult decision to step away from it all.

“Eventually, I left New York. I walked away from my label, my management and everything else. Then I found out I was being blacklisted just for standing up for myself,” he revealed. “But I chose me. I chose joy. I chose faith. I chose the fans who never stopped believing.”

He added, “When I first started, it was never about fame or fortune. It was just my passion. Music helped me survive. Even when nobody else believed in me, I believed in myself.”

Although out of the public eye, Da’Ville never stopped creating. He continued to write, perform, and reconnect with the purpose that first inspired his music. Now, he’s ready to share that light with the world again.

“This is the most personal and spiritual chapter of my journey. Sunshine Days is about gratitude, love, and walking through life with your head up. The world needs that energy right now and I’m here to give it,” Da’Ville vowed.

His return is being managed by Wendy Morgan of Beautiful People Management, who is spearheading the launch.

“This project is truly from the heart,” said Morgan. “Da’Ville has grown tremendously, both personally and artistically. It’s an honour to help him bring this moment to the world.”

The audio and music video for Sunshine Days will be distributed by AMP Music, who are fully supporting the artist’s comeback. The music video, directed by BlingBlang, offers vibrant storytelling that mirrors the song’s uplifting message.

Orville Aloysious Thomas, better known by his stage name Da’Ville, is the son of veteran entertainer and producer, Jah Thomas. A former member of the singing group, ARP (A Raw Perspective), Da’Ville signed with Penthouse Records in 2001 as a solo artiste under the management of Donovan Germain. He recorded the hit singles Cruzin, and the collab with then label mate, Marcia Griffiths, titled All My Life, which was nominated for the 2001 Reggae Soca Awards.

Da’Ville continued to record hit singles for producers such as J.Brown, Fire Links, Stephen McGregor, Don Corleon, Preston Anfoy, Wee-Pow (Stone Love), Beres Hammond, Robert Livingston (Big Yard Music), and many more. In addition to Da’Ville’s vocal abilities, he is a songwriter, composer and producer.
