The 2025 Suncorp Super Netball League season in Australia ended in disappointment for three of Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls who were on the losing end in the championship final at the weekend.
The West Coast Fever with nation captain Jhaniele Fowler-Nembard, Kadie-Ann Duhaney and Shanice Beckford lost narrowly 59/58 to the Melbourne Vixens at the Rod Laver Arena.
Fowler Nembhard was in superb form scoring a perfect 50 goals from as many attempts while Beckford had four goals with 10 assists.
Former assistant coach of the national senior women’s team, Winston Nevers, says despite the loss, the ladies had a good season..
Nevers added that in reflecting on the season that the Jamaicans had in the 2025 staging of the Australian Suncorp League ,he believes more local players should be plying their trade on Australian soil.
