Sydney Peyrefitte Gets Full Disclosure in Big Tom Murder Case

Belize City tour guide and businessman Sydney Peyrefitte received full disclosure in his murder case when he appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today. Peyrefitte is accused of killing a man known as “Big Tom” and has been on remand for nearly eleven months. During today’s appearance, the prosecution provided Peyrefitte with one hundred and fifteen pages of documents, eight photographs and four DVDs. His Preliminary Inquiry has now been scheduled for November 13 in Court Number One.  Peyrefitte appeared without his attorney, Bryan Neal, because the magistrate ordinarily handling the matter was unavailable. The sitting magistrate advised him to notify Neal so that the attorney can attend the Preliminary Inquiry.  The court had previously attempted to schedule the inquiry during Peyrefitte’s July 28 appearance, but could not proceed because the prosecution had not completed disclosure. The delay was reportedly linked to the departure of a forensic officer from the jurisdiction, requiring another officer to complete the outstanding work.  Peyrefitte was first arraigned on October 8, 2025, in connection with the murder. He remains on remand as the case moves toward the Preliminary Inquiry, which will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for him to stand trial in the High Court.
