Carenage-born Christian and devotional artiste Jaron Nurse will share tonight’s stage with award-winning American-based gospel artiste CeCe Winans.
The sold-out CeCe Winans: This Is It Trinidad will take place at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain, from 6 pm.
Nurse, who is well known for his releases Caribbean Christian, My Rock and Bless Meh, will open the show and will be performing for about 15-20 minutes.
With an aim of spreading happiness and connecting with a higher power in addition to being purely entertaining, Nurse is looking forward to his upcoming performance.
“It’s definitely a huge blessing to perform on the same stage as CeCe Winans,” he said.
“You couldn’t grow up in church and not hear CeCe—someone was always singing or dancing to her music.
“She is a performer who has spanned many decades, giving us many years of great music. She is still relevant and continues to produce a lot of inspirational songs. She is a distinguished person to emulate when it comes to Gospel music.”
The 15-time Grammy award-winning gospel-recording artiste and her full band arrived in Trinidad last night.
Her scheduled performance at the Queen’s Park Oval is part of her More Than This world tour, which kicked off in Canton, Ohio, on February 2.
Local contemporary worship group Gates Praise, in collaboration with the RR Group of Companies, is holding the Trinidad leg of the tour.
Pastor David Charles, of the First Church of the Open Bible, San Fernando, said his team has been working assiduously to ensure all systems are in place.
“All the persons who came in are in high spirit and are ready to create a space where people can have an encounter with God,” he said.
“That’s the vision of Gates Praise, to spread God’s message.”
Event partner Ricky Raghunanan said gates will open at 4 pm with the show time carded for 6 p.m.
Raghunanan highlighted that there will be no parking around the perimeter of the Oval.
“Free parking is available at the Queen’s Park Savannah at the entrance opposite TGIF,” he said.
“Shuttles will be provided for these patrons. Parking is also available at Mandela Park at a cost of $40.”
The gospel legend will be joined on stage by her full band and support team of over 12 members.
A 160-voice local mass choir will also lift their voices, creating a dynamic backdrop to the night’s worship.
The event will also feature Samuel Medas from Guyana, who arrived in the country on Tuesday night.
