Trinidad and Tobago is making a strong cultural and economic statement at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, captivating global audiences with its film, music, and heritage.

Global Trinidad and Tobago is leading the effort, with Film Commissioner Leslie Ann Wills-Caton and Music Division General Manager Melissa Jimenez promoting the country’s creative industries throughout the Expo, which runs until October 2025.

The T&T Film Commission has drawn international attention through a workshop series and local film screenings, attracting more than 250 attendees. A highlight was Panazz, a documentary celebrating the pioneers of the steel pan and its worldwide influence, screened on August 11 to coincide with World Steelpan Day.

The initiative aligns with Global Trinidad and Tobago’s mission to position the nation as a cultural and economic hub, leveraging the creative arts as a driver of trade, tourism, and investment.

“The positive response to our film screenings highlights the strength of our audiovisual storytelling,” said Wills-Caton. “Panazz connects audiences to Trinidad and Tobago’s creative industries and shows how audiovisual content can drive trade and investment opportunities.”

Jimenez noted that the Expo offers a platform to share the nation’s steel pan music and cultural stories, while CEO Sekou Alleyne emphasised its role in boosting the Orange Economy and related industries.
