Taiwan Foreign Minister Arrives in Belize for Official Visit

Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung arrived in Belize this afternoon for an official visit that runs through Wednesday. Foreign Affairs CEO Oscar Arnold, along with the ambassadors of Belize and Taiwan, welcomed Lin and his delegation at the Philip Goldson International Airport. Lin is travelling with more than 30 business representatives as Taiwan seeks to expand economic cooperation with Belize and Guatemala. During his visit, he is scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca. Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says he is also expected to meet Prime Minister John Briceño and Governor-General Froyla Tzalam.  His planned stops include the San Pedro Hospital construction project, a 50-unit social housing project and the proposed site of the Taiwan-Caribbean Prosperity Academy. Lin and Fonseca are also expected to sign a joint communiqué and an agreement on training and exchanges for diplomatic personnel.  After Belize, Lin’s trip is expected to continue to Guatemala.
