Belize is preparing to welcome a new Taiwanese Ambassador, even as the country bids farewell to Her Excellency Lily Li-Wen Hsu, whose four-year diplomatic tour here is coming to a close. During her farewell remarks, Ambassador Hsu confirmed that the Republic of China (Taiwan) has named Ambassador-designate Amino C.Y. Chi as her successor. Hsu noted that Chi is no stranger to Belize, having previously served multiple diplomatic assignments in the country.

HE, Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Taiwan Ambassador to Belize: “It is in this togetherness spirit I would like to ask for your continuous support to my successor, Ambassador Designate, Amino Chi. Ambassador Chi is no stranger to Belize. This will be his third tour to serve at our embassy here. I have every confidence with his rich experience and great energy our partnership will continue to grow from strength to strength.”
Chi currently serves as Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles. His diplomatic résumé also includes postings as Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami, Director of the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Office within the Bureau of Consular Affairs, and Assistant Director General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Department of Personnel. Notably, Ambassador-designate Chi previously served as both Second Secretary and Third Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize, experience officials say positions him well to continue strengthening bilateral ties. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages and Literature from National Taiwan University./
