TAJ Extends Deadline for Resubmission for RITC

Tax Administration Jamaica, TAJ, has extended the deadline for the resubmission of applications for the Reverse Income Tax Credit, RITC, to January 31.

The RITC is government’s one-time tax give-back of $20,000.

It applies to registered Jamaican taxpayers who earn less than $3 million annually and meet other specific criteria.

TAJ, in a release on Monday, says approximately 9,000 individuals whose applications were rejected due to invalid banking or tax information, and who were subsequently advised to reapply, have until 11:59 pm on Friday, January 31 to do so.

Applications can be made online via the TAJ website at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.

The TAJ says it recommends that taxpayers who continue to experience challenges with banking information use listed remittance agencies instead.

It advises, however, that these agencies may charge a fee.

TAJ says 343,086 Jamaicans have benefited from the one-of RITC since it was implemented in October 2024.

The agency says over $6.8 million have been disbursed.

The latest payments are scheduled for the last week in January, with the final RITC payment scheduled to be paid in February.
