MIAMI, Florida (CMC):

OLYMPIC MEDALLIST Megan Tapper was among a number of changes to the Grand Slam Miami event scheduled for Friday at the Ansin Sports Complex.

Tapper will join the Slam Racers team after Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn withdrew.

The event, which had its debut in Kingston, Jamaica, at the National Stadium, features face-offs between two teams - a set of Slam Racers, who are expected to compete across all events in the series, against Slam Challengers.

Tapper, the Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist, will now compete in the highly anticipated short hurdles race for the Racers, which also features compatriot Ackera Nugent.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Rushell Clayton, also a member of the Racers, was forced to withdraw from the women’s 400-metre hurdles, with American veteran Cassandra Tate taking her spot. Tate, the 2015 World Championships bronze medallist, brings experience to the long-hurdles field, which also includes Jamaica’s Shiann Salmon and Andrenette Knight.

In another update, Ethiopia’s Hagos Gebrhiwet was scratched from the men’s long-distance race, making way for Kenya’s Amon Kemboi, an 11-time NCAA All-American during his tenure at the University of Arkansas.
