Teacher Remanded on Rape and Sexual Assault Charges

Elias Tzib of Bullet Tree Village, Cayo District, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison this morning.  The 41-year-old teacher was arraigned in court for four counts of sexual assault and two counts of rape.  The charges came after a 12-year-old student reported to police, in the presence of her mother, that Tzib had engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with her on multiple occasions since October last year.  Love News understands that Tzib’s encounters with the child ranged from kissing to anal rape, with all acts taking place inside a classroom after school hours.  The young girl made the report on Wednesday, and by Friday, Police in San Ignacio had arrested and charged the teacher.  Tzib’s court matter has been adjourned until July 14.
