Teakettle Village now has a police substation, giving officers a permanent base in the community. The Belize Police Department officially opened the facility as part of an effort to improve police coverage in Teakettle and nearby areas of the Cayo District. Sergeant Shane Casimiro serves as the officer in charge. The substation will be staffed by thirteen police officers, who will respond to reports and carry out crime-prevention work in the surrounding communities. The facility was established with support from the Police Department, the Cayo South Committee, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing and residents of Teakettle Village. Police say the new location should make it easier for residents to access their services and allow officers to respond more quickly when incidents occur.
