18-year-old Zahiel Caliz appeared in court today in San Pedro Town where he was arraigned on a charge of harm and a threat of death. The teenager was granted a conditional bail of eight hundred dollars and is to reappear in court on September 11. The charges against Caliz stems from Thursday where his cousin, 22-year-old, Evira Alford, reported to San Pedro Police that she was visiting her aunt in the San Pedrito area last week. While conversing with her aunt, Caliz, a construction worker also residing in the San Pedrito area, allegedly arrived and began to verbally abuse her. According to Alford, her cousin threatened to kill her and chased her out of the yard. She also reported that Caliz slapped her across the face, causing her head to hit a wall. The police were called to the area and subsequently detained Caliz. Alford was issued a medico-legal form and taken to the San Pedro Polyclinic, where her injuries were classified as “harm”.
