Teen Charged in Burrell Boom Home Invasion and $89,900 Robbery

A nineteen-year-old Vista Del Mar resident has been charged in connection with a home invasion in Burrell Boom, Belize District, where four men allegedly tied up a businessman and stole nearly ninety thousand dollars in cash and property. Adam Abraham Reynolds appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of aggravated burglary. Police say he was later found behind the wheel of the businessman’s stolen SUV.  According to the complainant’s statement, he was asleep at his home early last Wednesday when a loud noise at his burglar bar door woke him. He told police a man jumped him and pressed a pillow over his face. As he struggled, a second man allegedly struck him with what appeared to be a firearm, leaving him bleeding from the head.  The businessman said four men bound his hands and feet with duct tape and taped his mouth. One allegedly guarded him at gunpoint while the others searched the home.  After the men left, he managed to free himself and went to the police station. He reported that they had taken thirty thousand dollars in cash, his Toyota Rush SUV valued at forty-five thousand dollars, jewelry, two cellphones, a television, a surveillance recorder and a bag containing documents. The reported losses total eighty-nine thousand nine hundred dollars.  Police say they spotted the stolen SUV in Santa Familia Village, Cayo District, on Thursday, October 15. They allege Reynolds was inside and drove off when officers ordered him to stop. The vehicle later crashed and was abandoned. The owner subsequently identified it as his. Reynolds turned himself in on Monday in the presence of an attorney and was charged. Investigators allege he acted with others who have not yet been arrested.
