An Orange Walk resident was the victim of a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Guinea Grass Road near Shipyard Village on Friday night. Police have identified the deceased as Eutemito Ervin Pech, an eighteen-year-old laborer of Guinea Grass Village. According to investigators, the incident occurred when Pech was riding a black Lifan 125 motorcycle along Guinea Grass Road and collided into the rear of a Mennonite horse-drawn buggy being driven by thirty-four-year-old Issak Shmitt. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and Pech was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “What we have learned so far in the course of the investigation is that Pech was traveling on the highway in the direction of Guinea Grass Village when he collided into the rear of a horse drawn buggy that was on the far right side of the road. This collision caused Mr.Pech to swerve into oncoming traffic and a further collision occurred between him and a pickup truck that was being driven by another person. A notice of intended prosecution has since been served on Mr.Garcia and urine samples taken.”
No injuries to the occupants of the horse-drawn buggy were reported.
