San Fernando West teenager Jamari Edwards remains in hospital with a bullet lodged in his liver after being shot while buying food in Fyzabad on Saturday night.
A relative told Guardian Media Edwards may also have spinal injuries, but there is hope he could walk again with therapy. “He is getting feelings in the legs… The bullet went into his back, hit his spine and is lodged in the liver,” she said.
Edwards and friend Jamali Noray, 17, were ambushed at Easy Street in what police believe was a warning aimed at someone else. The relative insisted Edwards was innocent, saying they were only buying food and there was “no provocation.”
Edwards was due to start classes at Servol in September. Police have arrested a suspect, but no charges have been laid.
