Motorists traveling along the Eastern Main Road between Mt. Lambert and Curepe Junction are being advised to prepare for temporary traffic disruptions as the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation begins pavement marking works in the area.

The project, scheduled to start on June 22 and conclude by July 1 will take place nightly between 9:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

According to the Ministry, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety through the installation of new markings associated with the Reversible Lane System.

To facilitate the works, sections of the Eastern Main Road will be closed in phases. During these closures, traffic will be diverted via the Priority Bus Route (PBR) and other designated alternative routes. The Ministry has assured that traffic management personnel will be on site to guide motorists and minimize inconvenience.

Officials have urged drivers to follow all posted signs and instructions from traffic personnel. Motorists are also advised to expect temporary delays, exercise caution when approaching work zones, reduce speed, and comply with all temporary traffic management measures.

The Ministry emphasized that these works are essential for enhancing safety and efficiency along one of the country’s busiest roadways. By implementing clearer and more durable pavement markings, the Reversible Lane System is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion during peak hours.

In its statement, the Ministry apologized for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for its patience and cooperation. It reiterated that the safety of road users remains its top priority as these improvements are carried out.

Residents and commuters in the Mt. Lambert to Curepe corridor are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly, especially during the scheduled working hours, and to make use of alternative routes whenever possible.

With the completion of these works, the Ministry anticipates smoother traffic management and safer driving conditions along the Eastern Main Road, reinforcing its commitment to modernizing infrastructure and ensuring public safety.
