These days, ‘90s dancehall front-runner, Terror Fabulous is fully focused on his re-emergence. However, fully accepting of the changing musical landscape, the veteran deejay said he is not looking to relive his glory days but rather to quench the thirst of music lovers craving ‘feel-good’ music with a nostalgic flair.

“The ‘90s was the golden era for dancehall, and mi feel blessed say me was a part a dat movement. I was able to witness some a di best in dancehall captivate the world, and mi know say nuff change in the industry, but we must remember that the dancehall legends were the catalyst for that change,” Terror Fabulous said, adding that when it comes to longevity in the music industry, versatility and authenticity are key.

“Change is good, but I am an artiste that is versatile as well as humble, and as far as staying relevant is concerned, music is universal, so if you create music from your soul, you will not have issues with staying current.”

Reflecting on the mega-hit single Action with Nadine Sutherland, he said the track has managed to transcend time because it made people feel good and that to date, whenever that song is played, listeners are transported back to a time when music simply made people happy.

“My music comes from mi heart. Mi nah try fi rebrand myself fi fit into any scene. Anybody who know me know say mi authentic and there is nothing like being yourself. A dat really make the people happy when dem listen your music innu, and once the people connect wid me, I’m ok,” he said, highlighting that his comeback is not centred on replicating the successes of Action.

“I don’t do things to impress people. I am a human being, not superhuman. All I have to offer is the gift of song that Jah blessed me with. I have the ability to bring hope and joy through song, and a dat a my mission,” he shared.

Action is a ‘feel-good’ song. The song is something that just about everyone can relate to, and it has its place in dancehall history. Mi nah go spend my career a chase a song like Action because there is room in the business for something new that the people will love and accept just the same. It’s all about good vibes. You never know which song will be the next hit song. Mi just wah focus pan the music and make Jah guide.”

With a new mindset, Terror Fabulous also hailed his current management team for having his best interests at heart. He said music lovers should brace themselves for lots of surprises from him as he seeks out meaningful collaborations in this new season.

“My manager, Kamla McIntyre aka ‘Kamy’, is in talks with some artiste now, and we have nuff surprises coming soon. She has been working with me for quite some time and mi see say she want the best for me in terms of my career. She mek sure that I am all right. Dem a go tired fi see her face when the new music touch the streets,” he said with a laugh.

“She very persistent. A dat mi respect bout her. Right now she have me a work wid Fire Royal aka Creg Henclewood of Fire Royal Records and Richard Bramwell of BreadBack Productions. Mi just wah tek the time fi also big up Super Beagle. I am grateful for the support weh dem continue fi show me.”
