Award-winning feature film The Life Coach, which explores resilience, mental health, the redemptive power of love, and the importance of authentic connection, is set to make its Jamaican theatrical début on July 25.
Written, directed, and produced by Patricia Bebia, The Life Coach has received 13 international awards — Best Film in all Categories for a Feature Film at the New York International Women Film Festival; Best Director, Inspirational Film at the Director Talents Awards in London; Best Actor, Paris Women Cinefest; Best Director, Milan Independent Film Festival; and the Audience Choice Award at the CaribbeanTales International Film Festival in Toronto.
The story follows Gary Johnson, a highly sought-after motivational speaker whose charismatic public image conceals deeply buried trauma. When life forces him to confront his inner wounds, Gary begins a profound journey toward self-acceptance, healing, and redemption. The film is a timely examination of the power of love, masculinity, vulnerability, and the quiet battles many people face behind the scenes.
In the spirit of giving back, a portion of the film’s Jamaican ticket proceeds will support the Kiwanis Club of Jamaica, whose ongoing initiatives help empower children, youth, and families across the island.
“This film is more than entertainment; it’s a catalyst for honest conversations around mental wellness, especially in communities where emotional pain is often silenced,” said writer, director, and producer Patricia Bebia. “I’m honoured to première The Life Coach in Jamaica and support the life-changing work being done by the Kiwanis Club.”
Bebia, an award-winning filmmaker, media executive, and storyteller, is the president of Diamond Plus Media and the co-owner of Afroglobal Television, Canada’s 24-hour black-owned media platform.
With a career rooted in purpose, Bebia has created and produced more than 15 television programmes, including The Visionaries, Standing Ovation, and Omobella Palace. Named in Who’s Who in Black Canada, Bebia is a recipient of numerous accolades, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Harry Jerome Award for Media.
The red-carpet première featuring the stars of The Life Coach will take place at Palace Amusement, Carib 5 on July 25, with screenings continuing through July 27 at select Palace Amusement locations.
