The Wailers Perform in Guam For Peace, Love, and Unity

1 month ago 6

This Saturday, the legendary Wailers Band will make musical history as they perform on Guam for the first time ever, delivering their timeless message of peace, love, and unity to the island’s shores. Led by Aston “Family Man” Barrett Jr., son of the original Wailers bassist, the group carries forward the revolutionary spirit of reggae icons Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer.

“We’re here to spread the music, the message—peace, love, and unity to everyone,” Barrett told local media. “Coming all the way out here is part of our mission. Inspiration comes from wisdom, and everywhere we go, we learn. I’m excited to experience Guam’s culture and share this moment with the people.”

Formed in Jamaica over five decades ago, The Wailers became the global voice of reggae, blending soulful rhythms with calls for social justice and spiritual upliftment. Though their music has long resonated with fans on Guam, the island has never before hosted a live performance by the iconic group—a milestone Barrett embraces with deep reverence.

“When the elders pave the way, the next generation must carry the torch to new places,” Barrett reflected. “I’m sure my father and uncles would have loved to come here. Knowing this is The Wailers’ first time in Guam makes this moment even more powerful. Their music has saved lives, healed hearts—its impact goes beyond what they ever imagined.”

Barrett remains committed to preserving the band’s authentic sound and message, guided by his father’s wisdom: “The work is already done in the music. Your duty is to keep sharing it with the world.”

Fans can expect a night of classic anthems like “One Love” and “No Woman, No Cry,” songs that have transcended generations and borders. The concert, presented by New Waves Studios, begins at 7:30 PM at Ypao Beach Park, with The Wailers taking the stage at 9:45 PM after opening acts.

Tickets are available at www.thewailersguam.com, with VIP access at $160 and general admission at $85. As Barrett puts it: “To all the people—stay humble, keep faith, and remember, through music, unity is possible.”

This historic performance not only honors The Wailers’ legacy but reaffirms reggae’s enduring power to inspire change—one island, one song at a time.
