Thirsty Thursday Owner Charged in Fatal Haulover Accident

After nearly four months of investigation, 34-year-old businessman and Thirsty Thursday owner, Khris Rosado, has been formally charged in connection with the fatal road traffic accident that claimed the life of Police Officer, 38-year-old, Arcenio Cus, near the Haulover Bridge on July 28.  Rosado appeared this morning before a magistrate in Belize City, where he was read five traffic-related offenses, specifically, manslaughter by negligence; causing death by careless conduct; driving without due care and attention; failing to stop and render aid and failing to report an accident.  No plea was taken, and there was no objection to bail by the prosecution. Rosado was offered bail of $6,000 plus two sureties of $3,000 each and is scheduled to return to court on January 6, 2026.  The incident occurred between miles 5 and 6 on the Philip Goldson Highway, when PC Cus, who was riding a motorcycle toward Belize City, was reportedly struck by a black 2009 Honda Ridgeline driven by Rosado. The impact caused Cus to lose control and fall to the pavement, suffering fatal head and abdominal injuries.  Police later located Rosado at his Ladyville residence, where they found the vehicle with extensive front-end damage and a blown rear tire. While initially detained in July, Rosado declined to give a statement on the advice of his attorney.  A post-mortem examination confirmed that PC Arcenio Cus died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries resulting from the collision.
