Three people, including two teenagers and a 60-year-old woman, were injured in a shooting incident last night in Belize City. Police say that on Tuesday, December 9, at around seven thirty, reports were received from the Police Control Room of shots fired on M & Y Street. Officers from the Crimes Investigation Branch, Precinct Two, responded to the scene where they learned that three victims had already been transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. The injured have been identified as 17-year-old Demarco Matthews of Miller Street, 17-year-old James Saldano of the Gungulung area; and 60-year-old Julia Vialto of M & Y Street. Initial investigations say that an unknown male person fired several shots in the direction of the victims, causing the injuries, before fleeing the area. Police processed the scene with assistance from Scenes of Crime Technician Gabriel Pate. Several expended shell casings were retrieved, and a firearm was also recovered.
