Toledo Entrepreneurs Briefed on Upcoming Trade Licensing Act 2025

Entrepreneurs, business owners, and interested individuals in Toledo have been officially sensitised on the rollout of the Trade Licensing Act 2025. The sessions took place last night at the conference room in the city Council Building. The session’s aimed at guiding members on how the Trade License money is used. While the house was full, Mayor of Punta Gorda Carols Galves encouraged the presence of more people. Here is Paul Mahung with the story.

Paul Mahung, Love FM Correspondent: “Members of the Business community participated in a Trade License Sensitization session held in Punta Gorda. Thursday night’s information event was coordinated by Punta Gorda Town Council, Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labor and Local Government, and Mayor Carlos Galvez.”

Carlos Galvez, Mayor, Punta Gorda Town: “We want to continue to encourage all business owners, operators to attend these sessions because it’s educational and for them to ensure that they do what is right and fair in all respect to the council, likewise for themselves. It was an educational session where you got a clear understanding of what the role out of the Trade License Act is all about. So for those who didn’t make it, I say to you, hopefully next time when we do have the meeting you all will come out and participate. The trade license is the money that the council used to put back into infrastructure development, put back into the community. So it’s fair that the operator pays a fair rate and this rollout is very, very, very transparent. I think a lot of business owners, they left with a more appreciative knowledge of what is transpiring and what is about to happen.”

Paul Mahung, Love FM Correspondent: “Facilitators of session held at PGTOM Council Conference Room were Local Government officer Aurélia Cal and Director of Local Government Clifford King.”

Clifford King, Director of Local Government: “ I am pleased to say that this is the third time that we have come to do this public session here in PG and tonight we had an exceptional turnout of the business community of Punta Gorda. I reckon that we had over 100 people in the audience tonight which was an exceptional turnout and I think that information that we provided was well received by the community and I believe now the anticipation going into the new trade licensing year that people will feel a lot more comfortable with the new regime. There are some very salient features, for example, there is predictability and stability in the fees as we go from year one to year two, to year three. And so I think that businesspeople know that notwithstanding any investments that they make with their business, the fee structure for year one, year two and three will remain the same. And so I think people are glad to hear that. I also believe that people are glad to know that there is a control mechanism, the 10% up and down feature that controls what the new fees will look like, going into the new trade year. So I think people are very pleased to hear that.”

Paul Mahung, Love FM Correspondent: “Along with the presentations, questions and answers focus on information related to Trade License Act No. 19 of 2024. Paul Mahung, Love News, Toledo.”
