Toledo Man Charged After Suspected Drug Discovery

Police have arrested and charged 40-year-old Roman Gamboa after he was found with suspected drugs during an operation in Bella Vista Village, Toledo District.  According to police, officers were conducting operations in the community when they searched Gamboa and discovered a quantity of suspected controlled drugs. He was detained and later charged in connection with the discovery.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “Police in Bella Vista have formally arrested and charged 40 year old Roman Gamboa of Bella Vista Village for the offense of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. The arrest follows a joint operation that was conducted by the specialized units operating in that area at 8am on 2nd July 2026. The arresting officer reported that Gamboa was observed digging in the soil in an open lot in an area that is known to be used by peddlers of drugs and when the officers approached he began to walk off and he was observed throwing a plastic. He was taken to where the plastic landed and that plastic was retrieved and it was observed to contain fifteen small foils each containing suspected crack cocaine. Gamboa was also taken by to the location some ten feet away where he was observed digging and additional fifteen small foils of suspected crack cocaine were discovered. As a result of these things Gamboa was charged for two counts of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply with 2.29 grams and 3.44 grams of crack cocaine respectively.”

Police say operations in Bella Vista Village will continue as part of efforts to address drug activity and other crime in the area.
