Toledo Teacher Sentenced to More Than 30 Years for Rape of 13-Year-Old Student

A Toledo District teacher convicted of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student has been handed a lengthy prison sentence.  Santiago Tush, a teacher from Aguacate Village, was found guilty of two counts of rape of a child following a trial in which the court accepted the testimony of the complainant. The victim told the court that the incidents occurred inside a teacher’s bathroom at her school in May of 2024.  In delivering sentence, the court imposed 15 years and six months’ imprisonment on the first count and 16 years and six months on the second count, reflecting the seriousness of the offences and the breach of trust involved.  The case underscores ongoing concerns about the protection of minors within educational environments. Authorities continue to encourage students and parents to report any suspected abuse to law enforcement and child protection agencies.  Police say the matter is now concluded before the court.
