The Association of Tour Guides in Toledo held the last of its quarterly Annual general meeting along with its 2025 elections on Saturday. The Association which has been active since 1997 holds its election every two years, and this year’s election saw a new president and six other members. Paul Mahung has the story.
Paul Mahung:, Toledo Correspondent: During Saturday’s annual general meeting in Punta Gorda, new officers were elected to the Association of Tour Guides of Toledo with President Wilfred Mutre.
Wilfred Mutri, President, Association of Tour Guides of Toledo: “My name is Wilfred Mutri, the President of the Association of Tour Guides of Toledo. We have my other members on board; Alex Young is the Assistant Secretary. We have Victoria Tush who is the Secretary, Dennis Garbutt is the Treasurer, Jose Mas, Assistant Treasurer and Elon Young, Vice Chair. Between him and I, we should be working along with everybody. We also have Mr. Leonardo Moh. He’s a counselor. So, its all seven of us on the board, that should be working along with the members and for the members.”
Paul Mahung:, Toledo Correspondent:: How many years will be serving there?
Wilfred Mutri, President, Association of Tour Guides of Toledo: “Two years is the term, but if it deems and they want to re-elect you, then that can happen again for another two years.“
Paul Mahung:, Toledo Correspondent:What is the way forward for this new group?
Wilfred Mutri, President, Association of Tour Guides of Toledo: “Well, the way forward is to try and work on whatever we need when it comes to the association itself, you know, and members. We also have projects that are going on that we’re going to try and continue. We will be meeting a little bit later on with the old boards coming out, you know, so we’re abreast of what’s going on and procedures and stuff that we need to do.“
Paul Mahung:, Toledo Correspondent: I know at the AGM there was some talking about a boat for the association. Comment on that please.
Wilfred Mutri, President, Association of Tour Guides of Toledo: “Yes, we do have a boat that started out em with a project that is supposed to be something to help bring a little bit more activity for us here in the South and also bring a little bit more visitors to key areas that are a little bit away like Punta Negra, Baranco, Monkey River, from here and some of the islands that we have out on the Keys.
