Tracy Panton Confident as UDP Prepares for Leadership Convention

The United Democratic Party (UDP) is gearing up for its leadership convention come November 30.  Love News spoke with aspiring leader, Tracy Panton, who expressed confidence in being endorsed as the next UDP Party Leader.

Tracy Panton, Leader of the Opposition: “I’m looking forward to November 30th. We’re working really hard spending time with our caretakers and standard bearers, visiting our constituents, meeting with our delegates, not only to talk about the convention but to discuss next steps immediately following the convention and what we need to do within the first 100 days, for example, so that we can advance the work of the opposition so that the opposition is equipped and ready and able to hold this government administration to account. I always felt that I would be endorsed in this position. I’ve been working at this for a long time, as you know. However, if I am contested, I don’t believe that will be the case, it’s part of our democratic process and we value our democracy. I believe that the membership of this party is ready for the kind of leadership I represent and I do expect to receive overwhelming support at the convention.”

The convention comes at a time when the UDP is seeking to strengthen its organizational framework and clarify its direction ahead of upcoming political cycles. Party members will vote on leadership posts and deliberate on resolutions aimed at improving internal governance, constituency readiness, and national outreach./
