UDP Leader Tracy Panton used her presentation of the party’s mayoral candidates this morning to criticize the conditions of municipalities across Belize. Panton argued that municipal leaders have fallen short in addressing the needs of their communities and called for greater accountability for the state of the cities and towns. She said residents deserve better leadership and urged voters to consider the UDP’s candidates in the upcoming municipal elections.

Tracy Panton, Leader of the Opposition: “Our theme, 9-1-1, it’s a national emergency reflects the urgency Belizeans feel every day. The rising cost of living, public safety concerns, deteriorating infrastructure and unreliable municipal services. This is not a slogan for the UDP. It is the reality confronting families and communities across our country. Too many, yes I say too many of our residents face poor roads, inadequate drainage, inconsistent garbage collection, neglected public spaces, increasing fees and taxes, traffic problems, and local authorities that are too slow to respond. Belizeans deserve timely action, clear answers, and leaders who accept responsibility. That is why these municipal elections matter. They are an opportunity to restore accountability, strengthen local government, and put communities and people first.”
We will have more from UDP Leader Panton later in this newscast.
