Meanwhile, an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from a traffic warden on Friday that he was about to deposit to the bank. Police say they know who they are looking for and will not be revealing the amount of money taken. ACP Hilberto Romero confirmed the incident in this morning’s news brief.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On Friday the 27th day of February police responded to a robbery report at Regent Street in Belize City. Upon their arrival they met Carlos Abraham a traffic warden who reported that they were going to deposit cash at Belize Bank when they were approached by a male person with a firearm. The person pointed the firearm at them and stole a bag containing some cash. Thereafter the male person ran off making good his escape. We are seeking one suspect in regard to this robbery.”
Police are investigating an attempted murder following the discovery of a wounded man early Saturday morning on Maypen Road in Ladyville, Belize District. Reports indicate that around 6:35, Police received information from an unknown caller that a male person was lying on Maypen Road bleeding profusely from apparent gunshot injuries. Ladyville CIB, along with the Quick Response Team and Special Branch, proceeded to the area. Upon arrival, approximately 300 yards past the Maypen Bridge, officers observed a Hispanic male dressed in a black shirt and black jersey pants lying at the roadside with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Police say the man was still breathing and semi-conscious at the time. When questioned, he identified himself only as Lorenzo. The victim was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital by police, where he remains listed in critical condition.
