The Nicholas Pooran led Trinbago Knight Riders got back to winning ways after they registered a commanding eight-wicket win over the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, in CPL action, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday night.
Batting first the Falcons were restricted to 146 for 7. youngster Jewel Andrew led the batting with an entertaining 40. Knight Riders’ Pakistani left-arm seamer Mohammed Amir took 3 for 22 from his allotted four overs.
In reply, The Knight Riders’ innings was led by Keacy Carty who scored 60 from 45 deliveries.
CPL action will continue tonight with defending champions St. Lucia Kings taking on the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriot at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, match time is set for 6pm Jamaica time.
Meanwhile, CEO of the Caribbean Premier League, Pete Russell, is excited about the quality of play he’s seeing in this season of the competition.
After 7-matches, Antiga and Barbuda top the table with 7-points, Trinbago knight Riders are 2nd with 6 points, but they have played only 4-games.
St Lucia Kings are 3rd with 6 points after 5-starts, with Guyana Amazon Warriors 4th, St. Kitts and Nevis 5th and Barbados Royals 6th.
Russell says there are no clear favourites.
He says he’s encouraged by the support from the fans.
