Trinidad is tipped to be host of the new regional T20 tournament which is expected to unearth new talent in the region.

The focus of the tournament will be youth players Under-23, though cricketers over that age will also be given a chance.

The tournament is tentatively set for April 18 to May 11 this year.

CWI director of cricket, Miles Bascombe, confirmed that the twin island republic will be the likely host and said the first edition will be held in one country to save money with the Brian Lara Academy the venue.

Bascombe says Trinidad is the right fit because of the support they’re accustom to getting in that country.

However, the plan he says is for the tournament to move around the region to get the players exposed to different conditions as well as giving the public in each of the territories an opportunity to actually come out and see the inspiring T20 players ply their trade.”

Bascombe said because the T20 World Cup is played every two years, players who are 27 or 28 can still have lengthy careers.
