Tuk Tuk Belize Launches First Fully Electric Tour Vehicle in Belize City

Belize City residents and visitors now have a greener way to explore the Old Capital following the official launch of Tuk Tuk Belize’s first fully electric tour vehicle this afternoon at Memorial Park.  The new eco-friendly unit was unveiled by company owner Tanisha Vernon, marking what the company describes as a significant step toward sustainable urban tourism in Belize City. The electric vehicle is expected to service guided tours in and around the city, particularly targeting cruise visitors and short-stay travelers looking for compact sightseeing options.  Speaking at the launch, Vernon highlighted that the new tuk tuk is designed with both passenger comfort and environmental responsibility in mind.

According to Vernon, the vehicle comes equipped with seat belts to enhance passenger safety and waterproof side curtains to protect riders during rainy weather. She added that transitioning to electric-powered tours forms part of the company’s broader commitment to supporting sustainable development while offering a modern tourism experience.  Tuk Tuk Belize says the new EV will operate along key city routes, including coastal areas, cultural landmarks, and popular photo stops, providing what the company describes as a quiet, low-emission alternative to traditional tour vehicles.
